2022 January Programs

December 1, 2021

Hello Friends,

As we near the end of the 2021 calendar year, we wanted to let you know some of our plans as staff/leadership moving into 2022. We continue to be grateful for your support and flexibility as we navigate ministry in an ever-changing context. A brief explanation of the different areas of ministry and congregational work is listed below. As always, we welcome your questions and your thoughtful feedback.

Worship – We will continue to worship at 8:30 and 10:00 on Sunday mornings. These services will be masked per CDC guidelines and will have no capacity limits. Our Wednesday night worship service will continue to be on hold.

Music – With the addition of Dr. Mary Newton to our staff, we will look to begin additional musical rehearsals and choirs on Wednesday, January 12. We will resume Joy and Alleluia choirs, and ReBELLious and Rings of the Lord bell choirs. Alleluia choir rehearsals. The Sanctuary and Youth choirs will continue to rehearse. For more information and to register visit www.mtcalvary.com/music.

Faith Formation – Confirmation and High School Youth Group have been meeting inside since the end of October. We will continue to have these groups meeting in January and beyond. We are also looking forward to the resumption of Sunday School on January 9. Sunday School will be meeting from 9:45-10:15 on Sunday mornings. All of these activities will be masked for the protection of everyone in the community. For more information and to register visit www.mtcalvary.com/sundayschool.

Interim Music Ministry – We are grateful to have Dr. Mary with us! We are considering the extension of the intentional interim ministry to allow for a comprehensive study about the musical needs of our congregation and the surrounding community.

Bold Leadership Training – Our church council has been invited to participate in LeaderWise, a leadership development beta project through Luther Crest Bible Camp in Alexandria, MN and Crossroads Camp and Retreat Center in Port Murray, NJ. This exciting program will help our elected leaders foster teamwork and connection with our congregational mission as we chart a new path forward.

Congregational Discernment and Consultation – We will be entering into an intentional look at our congregational core values, our ministry needs, and the aforementioned process to meet our worship needs moving into the future. With the help of LeaderWise, this process will allow us to gather your dreams and wishes to help make our ministry as life-giving as possible.

As you can see, we are actively seeking to understand God’s plans for our life together in this place. We have been so fortunate to have moved through these last two years together. We have held each other tightly in this place as we moved through change after change. Now, it is time for our dreaming to begin once more.

With Gratitude,

Pastor Tom – on behalf of the staff and council of Mount Calvary
